Dentist Oath-Taking Ceremony, September 2025 Period at FKG UGM

The dentist oath-taking ceremony at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) was held with solemnity and pride. The event marked the completion of the long and dedicated journey of professional dental education undertaken by the graduates. This moment also represents an important milestone in preparing competent dental health professionals who are ready to serve the needs of public healthcare in Indonesia.

In the September 2025 period, a total of 28 new dentists were officially inaugurated. Each graduate has completed their professional training and fulfilled all academic requirements in the Dentistry Profession Program at FKG UGM. They have also successfully passed the National Competency Examination for Dentistry Profession Students (UKMP2DG).

In his remarks, Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., delivered an inspirational message to the newly inaugurated dentists. He emphasized the importance of integrity, professionalism, and empathy in dental practice. His message aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), which aims to improve the quality and equity of healthcare services. “Be dentists who are not only knowledgeable, but who also uphold integrity, empathy, and a spirit of service to the community,” he expressed.


Representing the parents of graduates, Ir. Surya Triharto, M.T., M.B.E., conveyed gratitude and pride for the guidance provided by the faculty throughout the educational journey. He emphasized that the support of the FKG UGM academic community played a significant role in the students’ success. This aligns with SDG 4 (Quality Education), which highlights the importance of a supportive learning environment in enhancing educational outcomes. “The achievement of our children becoming dentists is the result of hard work, family support, and exceptional guidance from the lecturers. Thank you,” he conveyed.


The new dentists also delivered a collective pledge to serve society responsibly, represented by drg. Aini Hasibah Ningtyas. In her message, she affirmed their commitment to contribute to improving public oral health. “We promise to dedicate the knowledge we have gained for the betterment of society’s oral health and to continue learning so that we may become professional and ethical dentists,” she stated. This commitment strengthens efforts toward achieving SDG 3, by ensuring broader and higher-quality access to dental healthcare services.

The inauguration ceremony also featured the Dentistry Awards , recognizing outstanding graduates. Their achievements demonstrate that contributions to the SDGs are not only made through healthcare service delivery but also through innovation, academic excellence, and continuous self-development. The notable presence of accomplished women graduates also reflects support for SDG 5 (Gender Equality) in promoting equal participation in the dental profession.

This ceremony marks a strategic step in producing high-quality dental professionals in Indonesia. Equipped with strong scientific competence and a spirit of service, FKG UGM graduates are expected to bring meaningful impact to national oral healthcare development. Their presence strengthens Indonesia’s efforts in achieving sustainable progress in health, education, and gender equality.
