On Thursday (21/7/2022), the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) at Universitas Gadjah Mada held an Open Inauguration Ceremony for Dentists for the July 2022 Period. The event occurred at the Margono Soerjadi Auditorium, 3rd floor, FKG UGM. This inauguration was attended by the parents/guardians of each participant for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was conducted in a blended format.
Present at the inauguration were the Chairperson of the FKG UGM Senate, the FKG UGM Dean's Office, representatives from the UGM RSGM board of directors, the Chairperson of the Indonesian Dental Council, Prof. Dr. drg. Melanie Hendriaty Sadono, M.Biomed, PBO., and the Chairperson of the Sleman Indonesian Dentists Association (PDGI Sleman), drg. Heni Primasari.
The inauguration of dentists began with the singing of the Indonesian national anthem and the Gadjah Mada University Hymn. It was followed by reading the dental professional certificate by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FKG UGM, drg. Rosa Amalia, M.Kes., Ph.D., and the administration of the dentist's oath accompanied by religious leaders from various faiths.
In her address, the regional coordinator of the Indonesian Dentists Association (PDGI DIY), drg. Heni Primasari emphasized the importance of adhering to the professional code of ethics for dentists according to applicable regulations.
During this inauguration, a video presentation featuring FKG UGM alum drg. Muhammad Hirzi Nugraha was shown. He works in remote Kalimantan through the Nusantara Sehat Program. This program deploys healthcare professionals to remote and disadvantaged areas designated as "3T" by the Ministry of Health. Following this, there was a speech by drg. Nur Kartika Eka Candra Dewi from the Maumere Community Health Center in Sika District, East Nusa Tenggara, who is also an alumna of FKG UGM.
In this dentist inauguration ceremony, drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., the Dean of FKG UGM, congratulated the newly inaugurated dentists for completing their education and being ready to apply their knowledge in society, especially in their respective regions. FKG UGM supports the enhancement and development of regions by providing opportunities for students from those areas to study at FKG UGM. He concluded his address by saying, "Don't wait for someone to set an example but strive to be the example. Don't wait until you can, but act so you can."
In this inauguration ceremony, 33 dentists were inaugurated, including 11 who graduated with honors. The fastest study period was achieved by drg. Adhaninggar Ratna Hapsari, drg. Luisa Kandida, and drg. Shargunan A/L Vayrafvel completed their dental professional studies in just 1 year and 9 months.
The dentist's inauguration ceremony concluded with a message from a representative of the Indonesian Dental Council via online media and was followed by a group photo. Congratulations to the 33 officially inaugurated dentists as they embark on their professional journeys.
