Indonesian Education Exhibition in Doha: FKG UGM Highly Favored by Qatari Students

FKG UGM participated in The 1st Indonesian Education Expo in Doha, Qatar, on Saturday and Sunday (11-12 May). This inaugural Indonesian higher education exhibition was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Qatar with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Qatar.

Universitas Gadjah Mada was involved in introducing higher education in Indonesia to Indonesian and international participants in Qatar along with nine other major universities in Indonesia, namely Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Padjajaran, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Institut Teknologi Bandung, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Institut Pertanian Bogor, and Universitas Bina Nusantara.

“One of the aims of this exhibition is to provide alternatives to prospective students in Qatar about study options in Indonesia, which will become important global players in the future,” said the Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar, H.E. Ridwan Hassan, while inaugurating the exhibition. “By studying in Indonesia, we will be prepared to become significant players on the global stage,” he added

The FKG UGM delegation was represented by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, drg. Rosa Amalia, M.Kes., Ph.D., FISDPH, FISPD. She was invited to introduce FKG UGM in a presentation session at the Al Khor Community. Located 40 km north of Doha, this community is one of the leading multicultural communities in the Middle East, with a population of about 13,000 people from more than 60 countries, including the Indonesian diaspora. Additionally, one-on-one sessions were held with prospective students.

“FKG UGM turned out to be highly favored by students here,” remarked drg. Rosa from the presentation and one-on-one sessions. According to drg. Rosa, learning in English is highly anticipated by them.

FKG UGM's participation in The 1st Indonesian Education Expo is a concrete effort to realize its vision of becoming a leading dental faculty in Indonesia with a world-class reputation, aligning with the 4th goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Quality Education. This exhibition is expected to open networks and potential collaborations with local university partners in Qatar as mandated by the 17th pillar of the SDGs, which is Partnership for the Goals.
