Outbound and Introduction of New PPDGS Prosthodontics Students 2024

The Outbound and Introduction of New Students of the 2024 Prosthodontics Specialist Education Program (PPDGS) was a crucial moment for new students to familiarize themselves with the academic culture and build strong relationships with lecturers and peers. This event was held at the slopes of Mount Merapi through the Lava Tour activity, providing a unique yet enjoyable experience.

Held on 5 August 2024, the event involved lecturers, academic mentors, and PPDGS Prosthodontics UGM students from various cohorts, including 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. The outbound activity was not only aimed at welcoming new students but also at strengthening camaraderie and creating a supportive learning environment.

The event included a series of activities, such as the official welcoming of new students, introductions to lecturers and academic staff, and an overview of the curriculum and academic culture at Prosthodontics UGM. Additionally, there was a handover ceremony for the Chief of Prosthodontics for the 2024/2025 period, where drg. William from the 2021 cohort officially passed the role to drg. Aris Aji Kurniawan from the 2022 cohort. This transition reflects healthy regeneration and the continued passing of responsibility across cohorts.

Furthermore, the event became even more engaging with a talk show featuring drg. Jessica Regina, who shared her inspiring experiences during her residency. She also provided valuable tips, including study strategies and her journey to winning the Prosthodontics Competency Examination in July 2024, held in Makassar.

Through this event, it is hoped that relationships between students and lecturers will become closer, fostering a familial atmosphere within the Prosthodontics Department. As drg. Aris Aji Kurniawan stated, "Hopefully, through this event, we can all get to know each other and become closer. As our lecturers have said, there is no bullying in the Prosthodontics department. Hopefully, senior residents can guide their juniors, and juniors respect their seniors, so we all become a close-knit family."

This activity is one of FKG UGM’s efforts to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), by instilling values of collaboration and togetherness to support the achievement of a healthy and harmonious learning environment.
