Prof. Dr. drg. Juni Handajani, M.Kes., Ph.D., PBO., has been a permanent lecturer at the Department of Oral Biology, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada, since 1998. She was appointed as a full professor in Oral Biology at FKG UGM in 2021. Her academic prowess is evident through her successful completion of her Bachelor’s, Master's, and Ph.D. degrees (with cum laude honors) in 1995, 2002, and 2007, respectively, at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada. In 2011, she also obtained her second doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in medical and dental sciences from Niigata University Graduate School, Japan. In 2018, the Indonesian Dental Association (PB PDGI) recognized her as an Oral Biology Specialist.
She actively conducts research funded by the Basic Research Grant from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristek Dikti), the Faculty of Dentistry Community Fund (Dana Masyarakat FKG UGM), and the Directorate of Research, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Her research focuses on saliva and its quality enhancement, soft tissue, and oral mucosa regeneration, studied from a biomolecular perspective, and has been published in various national and international journals. The outcomes of her research have also been presented at scientific meetings nationally and internationally, including in Indonesia, Japan, Australia, the United States, and Malaysia. She has published reference books such as "Saliva Quality for Oral Health," "Diabetic Periodontitis," and "Fundamentals of Oral Biology" (2023). (2023).
Prof. Dr. drg. Juni Handajani, M.Kes., Ph.D., PBO., besides being an educator and researcher, also possesses strong leadership skills demonstrated through her experience as the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources at FKG UGM (2016-2021), Chair of the Master's Program in Dental Science at FKG UGM (2016, 2022-present), Secretary of the Oral Biology Division at FKG UGM (2005-2015), and Chair of the Quality Assurance Unit at FKG UGM (2012-2015). Her leadership roles also extend to organizational positions such as Chairperson of Persit Kartika Chandra Kirana Branches in Tuntang (Salatiga) and Depok (Yogyakarta), as well as Vice President of the Indonesian Oral Biology Association (PBOI). Currently, she serves as the President of PBOI for the 2022-2025 term.
Apart from the activities above, she also practices clinically at the Prof. Soedomo Dental and Oral Hospital, UGM. She enjoys sports as a hobby to maintain physical fitness and supports Universitas Gadjah Mada's initiative as a Health Promoting University.
