Prof. Suryono is a lecturer in the Department of Periodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), who completed his undergraduate degree (S.K.G) and dentist profession (drg.) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and his Ph.D. at the School of Dentistry, University of Tokushima, Japan.
In addition to his expertise in dentistry, he also pursued a Bachelor's degree in Law, completed in 2009, and obtained the professional titles of Mediator (2010) and Lawyer (PERADI) in 2019. He received a Master's degree in Management in 2013.
He has received several awards, including the Tokushima University-Japan Award and an Alumni Scientific Oration from the Rector of Tokushima University. He also received the Indonesia Leadership Professional Award 2020 for being Inspiring, Creative, and Innovative.
Some of his written works include "Surgical Method of Frenectomy—incision below the clamp to reduce bleeding," "Propolis 10% gel as a topical candidate for gingivitis," and "Muslim-Friendly Dental Clinic Rating Scale." One of his innovative products is the Propasdent Propolis Toothpaste. Among his authored books are "Fundamental Periodontal Surgery," "Introduction to Islamic Dentistry," "Islamic Contemplation and Science," and others.
He is also active in the professional association PDGI (Indonesian Dental Association), serving as the Chairman of the Development and Defense Board. In addition to serving as the Dean of FKG UGM, he is also the Chairman of AFDOKGI (Association of Indonesian Dental Faculties) for the period 2023 – 2025.
