drg. Ryna Dwi Yanuaryksa, Ph.D., is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, Faculty of Dentistry, Gadjah Mada University Yogyakarta. Her dental degree (drg.) was obtained in 2009 with honors (cumlaude) and immediately received an offer to continue his doctoral studies in Japan. He continued his doctoral studies at Department of Molecular Biology, Institute of Biomedical Sciences, Tokushima University Graduate School in 2010 and was able to earn his Doctorate well in 2014. He utilized the knowledge gained during his doctoral studies by developing research in the field of radiobiology with the first copyrighted work in the form of software GamaComet is the result of collaboration with lecturers from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences UGM. The research focuses on the effects of radiation on humans, including DNA damage and changes in cell maturation with several publications in Scopus indexed journals, including Brazilian Journal of Oral Sciences, Archives of Orofacial Sciences, Malaysian Journal of Medicine and Health Sciences, and a few others.
drg. Ryna is also actively involved in community outreach, providing education and dispelling fears about dental radiography among children and adolescents. She has created two educational videos and one video demonstrating dental radiography procedures.
She will be heading the Department of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology from 2021 to 2026. Additionally, she has been entrusted with the role of Chair of the Research Ethics Commission at Prof. Soedomo Dental and Oral Hospital, UGM, since 2021. Despite her busy schedule, she still finds time to pursue her research, which is her passion, and supervises the Integrated Research Laboratory at the Faculty of Dentistry, UGM.
