drg. Hendri Susanto, M.Kes, PhD, Sp.PM is a lecturer in the Department of Oral Medicine at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta, commonly called drg. Hendri. He obtained his dentist profession degree (drg) in 2002 and a Master's in Health Sciences (M.Kes) in 2004. He completed his Ph.D. (S3) at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), University of Groningen, the Netherlands 2012. His specialization in Oral Medicine was achieved from the Oral Medicine Dentist Program, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Airlangga, in 2019. He practices as a specialist in oral medicine at RSGM Prof Soedomo UGM and the Academic Hospital UGM in Yogyakarta. As an educator, he teaches in the undergraduate Dental Medicine program (S1), Dental Hygiene program (S1), Dental Medicine postgraduate program (S2), Dental Medicine doctoral program (S3), and several specialized programs in Dentistry.
His research focuses on systemic diseases' oral manifestations, particularly nutritional deficiencies due to systemic medications. His current research interest involves the development of mucin-based artificial saliva for the treatment of dry mouth conditions. He also has a research interest in oral health and systemic diseases.
His achievements include receiving the Satya Lancana Karya Satya award from the government for his 10 years of dedication to UGM. He also achieved the highest citation count on Scopus in the past 10 years, 2023, with 74 articles related to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at UGM.
drg. Hendri is actively involved in student affairs, including participating in the New Student Orientation Program (PPSMB) at UGM since 2013, serving as a student counselor, and fostering student creativity in the Student Creativity Program (PKM) since 2014. He is also a national reviewer for PKM, organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) of the Ministry of Education and Culture, RI. Additionally, he has served as the Head of Student Affairs and Counseling at the Faculty of Dentistry, UGM. He has also been a member of the Sleman DIY branch of the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI) from 2008 to 2013. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Association of Oral Medicine Specialists (PP ISPMI) for 2022-2025. He has been a speaker at several seminars organized by PDGI branches, other healthcare professional organizations, ISPMI regions, and other universities besides Universitas Gadjah Mada.
Outside of academics and professional activities, drg. Hendri is involved in social activities such as the Guardian Parent Movement (GOTA) at Baitul Amin, Mundu Saren Tempel Sleman DIY, serving on the mosque's management board at Masjid Al-Jihad in Perum Dayu Permai, Jaban Sinduharjo. His hobbies include jogging, playing tennis, watching movies, and gardening.
