drg. Christnawati, M.Kes., Sp.Ort(K) is a faculty member in the Department of Orthodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Known affectionately as drg. Christ, she was born in Yogyakarta on 26 December 1958 and resides at Jalan Brajan No. 108 RT 02 Tamantirto, Kasihan Bantul. drg. Christ enjoys managing household tasks, and her life motto is to be grateful for Allah SWT's blessings, practice self-reflection, and embrace tolerance.
Her background includes elementary education at SD Netral C Yogyakarta, junior high education at SMP Negeri 3 Yogyakarta, and high school education at SMA Negeri 4 Yogyakarta. She earned her Bachelor's and Dentist Profession degrees from the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada from 1979 to 1985. She completed her Master's in Dental Health at Universitas Airlangga from 1991 to 1993. She also holds a Specialist in Orthodontics from the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada, completed between 1998 and 2003. drg. Christnawati earned her consultant title in 2010 and her subspecialty in Complex Dentocraniofacial Disharmony (DDPK) in 2021.
drg. Christnawati's research interests include orthodontic anthropometry and cephalometry. She has received several awards, including the Satya Lancana Karya Satya XX from Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2009 and the Satya Lancana Karya Satya XXX from Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2017.
Her professional experience includes serving as the Head of the Orthodontics Department at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada, from January 2016 to 2021 and as Secretary of the Orthodontics Department from April 2007 to March 2011 and April 2011 to April 2015.
drg. Christnawati has participated in numerous training and courses related to orthodontics, such as "Cephalometric Standard Research for Indonesians" at FKG UNPAD in October 2004; "Hands-On Ceril Edisi Orthonigma: Orthodontic Update" at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada in August 2017; "Hands-On Ortho UGM Goes to Pekanbaru: Management of TMD & Sleep Disorder in Daily Practice" at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada in April 2015; "Hands-On: Semarang Dentofacial Esthetics" at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada in March 2018; "Inside The Damon: Diagnosis and Treatment Plan" organized by the Indonesian Association of Orthodontists (DIY and Central Java) in January 2019; "How to Get Published and Have a High International Citation Index" at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada in January 2012; and various other courses related to orthodontics and dental health.
drg. Christnawati is also an active member of several professional dental organizations, including the Indonesian Association of Orthodontists, PDGI Yogyakarta, and the World Federation of Orthodontists.
She has published several recent works, including "Effect of Blue-light-emitting Diode Exposure on Osteoprotegerin Level During Orthodontic Relapse in Rats" in 2023, "Karakteristik Sefalometri Maloklusi Skeletal pada Orang Indonesia di Yogyakarta" in 2022, and "Hubungan Antara Sinus Frontalis dan Morfologi Kraniofasial Pada Maloklusi Angle Kelas I Orang Jawa" in 2018, among many others. These publications demonstrate her contributions to orthodontic research, which is relevant to current developments in the field.
