Dr. drg. Rini Widyaningrum, M.Biotech, is a lecturer at the Department of Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). Dr. Rini completed her dentistry education at UGM in 2008 and pursued her Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering (now known as the Biomedical Engineering program) at the Graduate School of UGM from 2010 to 2012. Her thesis research focused on osteoporosis detection using dental radiographs. Dr. Rini earned her Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) from the Faculty of Dentistry, UGM, in 2019 and is currently undergoing specialist training in Dental Radiology at Universitas Airlangga.

As an educator and researcher, Dr. Rini is interested in interdisciplinary research collaborations, especially in artificial intelligence (AI) for computer-aided diagnosis applications in dental radiology practice. She has consistently pursued research since her doctoral studies, focusing on developing photoacoustic imaging to support diagnosis and therapy in the medical and dental fields.

Aside from supervising undergraduate and dentist profession education students at the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Rini actively mentors postgraduate students across disciplines at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, UGM, focusing on dental radiology and photoacoustic imaging research topics. She has also served the academic community at FKG UGM as the Acting Head of the Undergraduate Program in Dentistry from 2021 to 2023 and currently serves the hospital community as the Head of the Radiology Department at Prof. Soedomo Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) UGM since 2023. Dr. Rini hopes that her role as an educator and researcher will contribute positively to society.
