Bambang Priyono has worked as a lecturer and researcher in the field of dentistry since 1980. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in dentistry and dentist profession education degree from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada. He earned his Master's in Public Health from the Faculty of Medicine and his Doctorate from the Graduate School of Dentistry at UGM.
He participated in a non-degree program at Niigata University, Japan, for four months, which included joint research activities (a cohort study on older people funded by Lion Oral Care from 1998 to 2011), School Dental Health activities in Yahiko, Niigata prefecture, and routine health screening for the elderly population. He frequently serves as a speaker for "Survey and Epidemiology" training for the Yogyakarta City Health Office in the context of CPNS Health Dentistry knowledge dissemination. From 2004 to 2008, he served as Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Collaboration, and from 2009 to 2011, as Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs. He has also served as Head of the HG Study Program.
His research interests include behavioral science, preventive dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and geriatric dentistry. He has published papers in the Journal of Dental Health Japan on the influence of various factors on dental treatment anxiety in school children. He teaches Survey and Epidemiology, Research Methodology, and Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in the Bachelor's (S1) programs in Dentistry and Dental Hygiene and the Master's (S2) program. He also supervises dental co-assistant students and undergraduate thesis work.
