Prof. Dr. drg. Ahmad Syaify, Sp.Perio, SubSp. R.P.I (K), FISID adalah staf di Departemen Periodonsia Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) Yogyakarta. Gelar dokter gigi (drg) diperoleh tahun pada 1987 dan Spesialis Periodonsia (Sp.Perio) diperoleh pada tahun 2002. Pada 2011, beliau menyelesaikan S3 di Program Studi Ilmu S3 Kedokteran Gigi FKG UGM dengan topik disertasi tentang respon imun seluler pada penderita periodontitis diabetika. Hingga saat ini, beliau masih menekuni topik tersebut sebagai minat penelitian dan memiliki kepakaran di Spesialis Periodonsia dengan Subspesialis Medisin Periodontal. Berbagai penelitian telah dipresentasikan pada ajang Seminar Ilmiah Nasional maupun Internasional dan dipublikasikan di jurnal ilmiah yang bereputasi. drg. Syaify turut memperkaya keilmuan dengan pendidikan non formal antara lain kursus Biomolecular in Health Sciences di Tokushima University Jepang dan Short Course Dental Implant di Korea.
Dr. Syaify has also enriched his knowledge through non-formal education, including courses in Biomolecular Health Sciences at Tokushima University in Japan and a Short Course in Dental Implantology in Korea. In addition to fulfilling the Tridharma of Higher Education, he has extensive experience at the structural level within the university and in professional organizations. He has served as the Chairman of the Senate of the Faculty of Dentistry at UGM (2014–2016), Head of the Department of Periodontics (2014–2016), Director of RSGM UGM Prof. Soedomo FKG UGM (2012–2013), and Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry UGM (2016–2021). He is currently active as a member of the Board of Trustees (MWA) at UGM. In professional organizations, Dr. Syaify has held positions as Chairman of the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI) Sleman (2012–2013), Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Periodontics Association (IPERI) Central (2014–2017), Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) Yogyakarta City (2015–2021), and Expert Member of the Association for Implant Dentistry (IPKGII) (2019–present).
With his extensive experience in academia and organizations, he is frequently invited as a speaker at scientific and popular seminars at the national level and as a resource person for various television programs. He has a wide network and journalistic experience, including roles as Editor, Bureau Chief, and Editor-in-Chief of a magazine. Despite his busy schedule, he finds time to paint, read, and write. One of his published books is "Dental Communication: Theoretical and Practical Contexts."
