A total of 50 students from the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), participated in an academic visit and industry tour to PT Cobra Dental Indonesia on Monday (22 June). Organized by the Networking Department of the Student Executive Board (BEM KM FKG UGM), the UGM Dental Company Visit 2026 aimed to broaden students' understanding of the dental industry—an area that is often not explored in depth within the classroom.
The program consisted of two sessions designed to provide participants with a comprehensive learning experience. The first session featured a presentation by PT Cobra Dental Product Specialist, Andhi Okta, who discussed the latest developments in the dental industry and innovations in dental technology, with particular emphasis on intraoral scanners.
"The introduction of intraoral scanners intraoral scanners has revolutionized workflows in modern dental clinics. These devices can scan and generate highly accurate real-time 3D models of a patient's oral cavity. In addition to facilitating integration with CAD/CAM systems for dental restorations, they significantly improve patient comfort by replacing conventional impression-taking procedures, which are often messy and can trigger gag reflexes," explained Andhi.
The session was not limited to theoretical presentations. Participants also took part in hands-on activities, allowing them to gain practical experience operating intraoral scanners and various other dental instruments.
Following the campus session, students visited PT Cobra Dental Indonesia's headquarters on Jalan Ringroad Barat, Yogyakarta, for a company tour. During the visit, they observed the company's daily operations, workplace environment, and the latest products and technologies supporting modern dental practice.
"The company visit to PT Cobra Dental was both enjoyable and highly beneficial in expanding our understanding of the dental industry. From learning about the latest dental technologies to company tour, every session was informative," said Calya Keisha, one of the participants.
Another participant, Alesha, also shared a positive impression. According to her, the visit provided a new perspective on career opportunities available to dentistry graduates. "This activity really broadened our horizons. It helped us realize that a career in dentistry is not limited to becoming a dentist. There are many other promising career opportunities within the dental industry," she added.
By gaining a deeper understanding of the dental industry ecosystem, students are expected to better recognize the needs of the oral healthcare market while keeping pace with the latest technological innovations. This experience will help FKG UGM students prepare more effectively for an increasingly dynamic and competitive professional landscape.
