Exploring Gingival Tissue Regeneration, Rezmelia Sari Earns Doctorate at UGM Faculty of Dentistry

Yogyakarta – Thursday, 20 March 2025. The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), once again marked an academic achievement with the successful defense of a Doctoral Examination in the Doctoral Program in Dental Science. The session took place in the Meeting Room of FKG UGM, with Rezmelia Sari, a 2021 doctoral student, as the main examinee.

In this closed examination, Rezmelia presented her dissertation titled “Comparison of Interdental Papilla Regeneration Following Platelet-Rich Fibrin and Hyaluronic Acid Injection in a Rat Model of Open Gingival Embrasure.”. This dissertation provides a significant contribution to dental science, particularly in the field of tissue regeneration, with important implications for both clinical practice and future research.

The examination was chaired by Prof. Dr. drg. Widowati Siswomihardjo, MS., as Chief Examiner and Head of the Doctoral Program in Dental Science, FKG UGM. The supervisory team consisted of Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D. (Promoter), Dr. dr. Usi Sukorini, M.Kes., Sp.Pk(K), and Prof. drg. Heni Susilowati, M.Kes., Ph.D. (Co-promoters). Internal examiners included Drg. Rezmelia’s dissertation focused on comparing the effectiveness of platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) and hyaluronic acid in stimulating interdental papilla regeneration in animal models. This research aligns with efforts to advance innovations in dental procedures that support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in quality education and good health.
