On Saturday, 17 August 2024, drg. Andreas Tjandra, Sp.Perio, FISID, attended the second day of the Yonsei-Zurich Advanced Implant Course at Yonsei University, Korea.
The event began with a presentation by Prof. Ui-Won Jung, D.D.S., Ph.D., Head of the Periodontology Department at Yonsei University, who discussed preoperative cases and conducted a live surgery on soft tissue augmentation (ARP).
Participants then engaged in hands-on training training led by Prof. Ui-Won Jung, D.D.S., Ph.D., and Prof. Young-Woo Song from VHS Medical Center. The training focused on practicing advanced techniques in dental implants, flapless guided implant placement, autogenous bone harvesting, and inside-out sandwich transmucosal GBR (guided bone regeneration), which are cutting-edge methods in dental implantology.
The second day concluded with a video showcase by Prof. Dr. Daniel Thomas from the University of Zurich, who presented on scanning, immediate restoration, and complication management. Participants were also given the opportunity to visit the Yonsei University Dental Hospital as part of a campus tour.
Andreas Tjandra remarked that the second day of the course was just as engaging as the first. “Attending this event has been a valuable experience for me to advance my expertise in Indonesia,” said Andreas Tjandra. He added that the course provided an excellent opportunity for students to update their knowledge and expand their networks.
Andreas’ participation in this course not only deepened his skills in periodontology but also supported the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in improving health and well-being (SDG 3) and ensuring quality education (SDG 4).
