Jakarta, 5 September 2024 – drg. Elbanuswatri, Sp.Pros, a PhD student in the Dental Science Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), participated in the international seminar titled Bio-Emulation with Composite Resin held at the Pullman Central Park Jakarta. This seminar was attended by dental practitioners from across Indonesia and several Asian countries, focusing on the latest techniques in aesthetic dentistry.
At the seminar, Dr. Liu Jingjin, a renowned composite expert from China, presented various innovative approaches to aesthetic dental restorations, including Bio-Emulation with Composite Resin which is becoming the standard in modern dental restoration. According to Liu Jingjin, this concept focuses on mimicking the biological structure and function of natural teeth using high-quality composite resin materials.
drg. Elbanuswatri participated in various sessions covering topics such as understanding tooth color systems, translucency, and the Microtexture Creating Skill (MTSc) technique to achieve more natural and aesthetic restoration results.
“Composite resin is a commonly used restorative material for repairing damaged, decayed, or broken teeth. This material closely matches the color of natural teeth, providing an aesthetic result,” said Elbanuswatri. Composite resin consists of a mixture of plastic (polymer) and fine glass particles (filler), which provide strength and beauty that resemble natural teeth.
The presence of this PhD student from FKG UGM reflects the academic spirit of continually deepening knowledge and integrating the latest technologies into the field of dentistry in Indonesia. This supports the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Goal 4: Quality Education.
