Jakarta, 6 September 2024 – Pullman Central Park Jakarta hosted a dental seminar attended by various dentists from across Indonesia and several representatives from Asia. One of the participants who had the opportunity to attend this seminar was drg. Elbanuswatri, Sp.Pros, a PhD student in Dental Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada.
The seminar focused on improving bio-emulation skills using composite resin, particularly in anterior dental aesthetics, under the guidance of Dr. Liu Jingjin, a renowned composite expert from China. Dr. Liu Jingjin is recognized as a leading aesthetic dentist and is a member of the Chinese Stomatology Association and Bio-Emulation China. He led the seminar by delivering comprehensive material on the use of composite resin.
The first session of the seminar discussed a journal on “Accelerated Fatigue Resistance” in incisors that had undergone endodontic treatment without a ferrule and were restored using CAD/CAM endocrowns. The journal, authored by de Carvalho et al. (2021), concluded that CAD/CAM non-vital incisor crowns without a ferrule improve resistance and result in mostly non-catastrophic failures compared to traditional adhesive post-and-core bonding crowns and no-post buildups.
The material continued with a discussion on the latest journal by Dr. Liu Jingjin et al. (2024), titled “Combining a CAD-DAM Composite Resin Palatal Wall With a Direct Composite Resin Layering Technique for the Restoration of a Large Class IV Fracture: A Clinical Report,”” yang diterbitkan di The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. published in The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry. The study highlights that using a CAD/CAM composite resin palatal wall can help shape the palatal surface of fractured anterior teeth. When combined with direct composite resin layering techniques, this approach can be superior in restoring fractures, providing optimal aesthetic and functional outcomes, and enhancing patient satisfaction.
The final session was the highlight of the entire event, featuring a live demonstration by Dr. Liu Jingjin, followed by a hands-on session for 60 seminar participants. This seminar aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: Quality Education, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
