On 13 November 2025, a total of 20 first-semester students of the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), successfully and orderly undertook the Dentocraniofacial course examination at the FKG UGM campus.
This examination represents an essential component of foundational dental education, particularly in understanding the anatomical structures of the head, face, and oral cavity as the basis for comprehensive dental practice.
Notably, the examination included international students—one from China and two from Malaysia—who participated alongside Indonesian students. This diversity reflects the global character of the IUP FKG UGM program, which emphasizes intercultural and collaborative learning.
Competency-Based Learning and Educational Internationalization
The Dentocraniofacial course is a core component of the early-semester curriculum of IUP FKG UGM. Through this examination, students are expected to integrate their understanding of head and facial anatomy with clinically relevant aspects of dentistry.
The academic coordinator of IUP FKG UGM stated that the examination assesses not only cognitive knowledge but also analytical skills and in-depth understanding of human biological structures. “We aim to ensure that every student has a strong scientific foundation before progressing to clinical learning in subsequent years,” he explained.

FKG UGM Prepares Globally Competitive Dentists
The presence of international students in the examination further reinforces FKG UGM’s position as a globally oriented dental education institution committed to international standards. Through the IUP program, FKG UGM continues to foster an inclusive, dynamic academic environment that adapts to developments in global dental science and technology.
The Dean of FKG UGM expressed appreciation for the students’ enthusiasm for learning. “We hope activities like this strengthen academic values, professionalism, and cross-cultural collaboration that characterize the IUP FKG UGM,” he stated.
With the implementation of the Dentocraniofacial examination, FKG UGM once again reaffirmed its commitment to producing future dentists who are competent, ethical, and ready to compete at the global level.
