UGM Dental Hygiene Students Win Gold Medal at World Youth Researchers Conference 2024

Students from the Dental Hygiene Study Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), have once again achieved remarkable success on the international stage. A team comprising Annisa Sastro Diyono, Annisa Desty Vambi, Jessica Benedicta Manihuruk, Viena Kurniawan, and Yehezkiel Vito secured the prestigious Gold Medal at the World Youth Researchers Conference (WYRC) 2024, organized by the Inventify Center in a hybrid format from 4 to 6 October 2024.

The WYRC 2024 is an international competition bringing together young visionaries, researchers, and changemakers from various countries across Asia and Africa. The event, themed "The Role of Young Changemakers in Revolutionizing the World Towards Sustainable Development Goals," seeks to connect global youth in addressing pressing global issues through innovative solutions. More than just an exchange of ideas, the competition provides a collaborative platform linking participants with industry leaders, policymakers, and community leaders.

“Our team presented a topic on Fiscal Inclusivity for Women, which proposes gender-based tax reforms tailored specifically for Indonesia, aligning with SDG Goal 5,” shared Annisa, known affectionately as Icha. “After going through a rigorous competition process, we proudly earned the Gold Medal in this event,” she added.

This achievement demonstrates the ability of students from UGM’s Dental Hygiene Study Program to excel on the global stage while making tangible contributions to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 5: Gender Equality, focusing on women’s economic empowerment.
