FKG UGM Students Successfully Hold PRASASTI 2026 Amid Busy Academic Schedules

The demanding schedule of lectures and practical sessions did not prevent students of the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) from remaining active in organizational activities. Through PRASASTI 2026 (Dentistry Sports and Arts Week), first-year students from the 2025 cohort proved that academic responsibilities and organizational involvement can go hand in hand.

PRASASTI 2026 is one of FKG UGM’s annual events that brings together students, clinical students, residents, lecturers, and educational staff in various sports and arts competitions.

The event coordinator, Dimas Nada Saputra, a student from the Dentistry Study Program (PDG) class of 2025, stated that his involvement in the organizing committee became an important experience in learning leadership and teamwork amid the busy activities of the second semester.

“This activity serves as a platform to develop leadership skills, social interaction, and event management abilities. In college, we do not only focus on academics, but also need balance through organizational activities,” said Dimas during the IDENTIC event (23/5).

According to him, time management became a challenge during the preparation process. Lectures remained the top priority, while time outside the classroom was used for committee meetings and technical preparations for the competitions.

Interestingly, the PRASASTI 2026 committee was intentionally dominated by first-year students. Out of a total of 93 committee members, around 80 were from the 2025 cohort, with mentoring support from students of the 2024 cohort.

“This event is considered quite large within the faculty, so it can become an early learning experience for first-year students to organize even bigger events in the future,” Dimas explained.

Dimas believes that the preparation process also strengthened solidarity among students. During approximately one month of preparation, the PRASASTI committee became a space for students from the 2025 cohort to get to know each other more closely. Around 250 students from two study programs — the Regular Dentistry Program and the Dental Hygiene Program — worked together across various committee divisions.

PRASASTI itself is an annual internal sports and arts competition within FKG UGM. The event features various sports and artistic competitions involving students, clinical students, residents, lecturers, and educational staff.

A total of 10 sports categories were contested, including futsal, basketball, badminton, volleyball, athletics, table tennis, chess, and e-sports such as Mobile Legends and FIFA. In addition, several arts categories such as photography, vocal performance, and band competitions also enlivened the event series.

As the closing of the entire competition series, the committee organized a grand finale titled IDENTIC (In Dentistry Art-Coustic). The event featured various artistic performances while also serving as the moment for announcing and awarding the winners of PRASASTI 2026.
