Yogyakarta, June-August 2024 The Integrated Research Laboratory (LRT) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), continues to be a focal point for microbiology researchers and laboratory technicians during the research season. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, LRT's microbiology room has become a favorite, particularly for biofilm, diffusion, and dilution testing.
The LRT at FKG UGM is known not only for its well-calibrated equipment but also for its cleanliness and the technical support provided by professional laboratory staff. Hamidah Nurul Husna Az Zahro, a researcher conducting antibacterial tests on denture cleaner extracts, shared her experience: “The laboratory fully supports my research. The equipment is complete, and the lab technicians offered invaluable input for my study. I highly recommend LRT to fellow researchers,” said Hamidah.
Positive feedback was also shared by Tsalitsu Khamdan Nuzilal Ikhsani, who is researching the addition of silicon dioxide nanoparticles as an antifungal agent. “Access to the LRT is very convenient, the facilities are comprehensive, and the lab technicians were very helpful when I encountered challenges in my research,” he noted, expressing how well-supported he felt throughout the research process.
One of LRT UGM’s strengths is its guidance for new researchers. Both Hamidah and Tsalitsu appreciated the detailed mentorship they received, from conducting research and using equipment to managing waste. “This guidance is crucial, especially for someone like me with limited lab experience. Thanks to it, I feel more confident in conducting my research,” they shared.
With its comprehensive facilities and support, LRT UGM not only provides a comfortable space for research but also plays a significant role in the success of various studies. The laboratory actively shares information through its Instagram account, helping researchers understand research procedures and equipment borrowing processes.
The Integrated Research Laboratory at FKG UGM not only supports successful research but also contributes to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
