A total of 25 students accompanied by two teachers from SMA Nasima Semarang visited FKG UGM as part of an effort to broaden students’ perspectives, particularly for Grade XII students of SMA Nasima, in choosing study programs, faculties, and universities, including FKG UGM. UGM was selected as the visitation destination as it is the oldest university in Indonesia. The delegation from SMA Nasima was received by the Head of the Academic and Student Affairs Working Team, Dyana Rakhmasari Kusumaningsih, S.E., M.Ec. Dev. In her remarks, Nana, as she is familiarly known, explained that UGM offers many admission pathways, and prospective students can apply through one of multiple available routes.
apply through one of multiple available routes. The enthusiasm of SMA Nasima students was evident from the number of questions they raised regarding university admissions, particularly to UGM. Adin, one of the students who holds an international-level Saman dance competition certificate, asked whether achievements rooted in arts and culture could be used to enter faculties outside the arts and culture field, such as medicine or law. In principle, competition certificates can be used in various university admission pathways; however, it is expected that there is alignment between the achievements obtained and the intended study program.

Nana advised that if students are later admitted through achievement-based pathways, whether in sports or arts, they should remain active in student activity units. “At UGM, there are extracurricular student activities known as UKM (Student Activity Units). You are expected to remain actively involved. Why must you be active? You already have achievements, you already have provisions and potential, and it is hoped that you can pass these on to your peers. And when UGM participates in competitions at national or international levels, you can contribute to bringing honor to UGM,” Nana stated.
