Educational Visit from SMA Negeri 15 Surabaya to FKG UGM

A total of 135 students and 8 teachers from SMA Negeri 15 Surabaya visited FKG UGM to gain deeper insight into UGM, particularly the Faculty of Dentistry. The delegation, led by Principal Johanes Mardijono, S.Pd., MM., was welcomed by the Head of the Academic Affairs Unit, Dyana Rakhmasari Kusumaningsih, S.E., M.Ec.Dev, and her team.

The event opened with enthusiastic remarks from the school’s representative, expressing pride in visiting UGM in person. The accompanying teacher emphasized the importance of striving for improvement and pursuing higher education, particularly at UGM.

“Today is extraordinary. We are honored to be present in this magnificent FKG UGM building. We hope this visit motivates our students to pursue their dreams — perhaps one day becoming part of UGM,” he said enthusiastically.

Dr. drg. Aryan Morita, M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Undergraduate Dentistry Program, welcomed the group and presented UGM’s profile and study opportunities at the Faculty of Dentistry. He introduced campus facilities, including student dormitories, healthcare services, sports facilities, and the Trans Gadjah Mada campus transportation system.

“We hope students from SMA Negeri 15 Surabaya are motivated to study harder and prepare early. At FKG UGM, students learn not only dentistry, but also responsibility, integrity, and service to society,” Morita stated.

Students actively participated in a Q&A session covering UGM admissions pathways, the SNBP and SNBT mechanisms, government affirmative scholarships, and international collaboration programs. One student, Muhammad Daniswara, asked about the role of the Academic Competency Test (TKA) in national admissions.
Dr. Morita explained that UGM is still awaiting final regulations from the Ministry, but emphasized that merit-based admission pathways remain open to students nationwide.

Discussion continued regarding scholarships, student exchange programs, and double degree opportunities. Dr. Morita noted that UGM has numerous international university partners and mobility programs, including affirmative scholarships for high-achieving students committed to serving regional communities.

The visit concluded with a group photo and a campus tour. Students appeared inspired by the green and dynamic campus environment.

“We’re happy to learn directly from UGM. The atmosphere is amazing, the lecturers are welcoming, and we’re even more motivated to study here,” said one student enthusiastically.

Through this activity, it is hoped that more high school students will be inspired to pursue higher education, become more familiar with academic life, and cultivate a spirit of contributing to the nation.
