The first lecture for the 2024 cohort of Prosthodontic Residents began on 12 August 2024. This event marks an important milestone in the academic journey of the new residents who are eager to enhance their knowledge and skills in prosthodontics. The program aims to provide a comprehensive education aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those focusing on access to education and quality learning opportunities.
The first-semester curriculum is designed to cover various essential topics. Among the subjects taught are health ethics and law, which are crucial for understanding the responsibilities and legal framework surrounding dental practice. This foundational knowledge is essential to ensure that future practitioners uphold high professional standards.
Another key component of the first-semester curriculum is the study of removable partial dentures, complete dentures, and fixed prostheses. These courses equip residents with the necessary skills to design and fabricate prosthetics that improve patients’ quality of life. The emphasis on practical skills demonstrates the program’s commitment to providing hands-on education that is accessible to all students.
Subjects taught in the first semester include health ethics and law, basic removable partial dentures, biomaterials, statistical methodology, medical research methodology, basic complete dentures, maxillofacial dental radiology, and scientific activities. As residents embark on this educational journey, they are reminded of the importance of access to education in developing countries.
The program aims to bridge knowledge and skill gaps, ensuring that all residents have the opportunity to succeed in their careers. By prioritizing education, this program aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which promotes inclusive and equitable quality education for all.
