To improve Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based learning quality, the Undergraduate Dentistry Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a question development workshop on Tuesday and Wednesday, 15–16 October 2024, at the Margono Suradji Auditorium, Faculty of Dentistry UGM. The event featured Dr. Yoyo Suhoyo, M.Med.Ed., Ph.D. as the keynote speaker, presenting material on "Techniques for Developing OBE Evaluation Questions,"followed by practical sessions on creating OBE-based questions.
The Department of Dental Biomaterials Science (IBKG) sent four representatives to participate in the workshop: Prof. Dr. drg. Siti Sunarintyas, M.Kes., Topic Coordinator for Dental Materials Technology (TMKG), Dr. drg. Dyah Irnawati, M.S., a question reviewer., Dr. drg. Harsini, MS, a question developer, and drg. Dyah Anindya W., MDSc as a Topic Manager for TMKG.
According to Prof. Dr. drg. Siti Sunarintyas, M.Kes., Head of the IBKG Department, the workshop aims to align learning materials with the clinical competencies students need to master. "The goal is for students to understand the material in an applied manner," she explained.
Meanwhile, drg. Dyah Anindya W., MDSc, emphasized the importance of precision in question development. "Faculty must be meticulous in creating questions to ensure that the specified competencies are achieved," she stated.
This workshop supports achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 4: Quality Education, particularly in dental and oral health education. Aligning questions with OBE principles equips students to tackle future clinical challenges, addressing society's need for high-quality healthcare services. With high hopes from the faculty, this initiative represents a significant step in developing more relevant and practical learning experiences for students.
