When UGM’s IUP Dentistry “Shines” in Jakarta

The promotion of the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) in Dentistry at UGM coincided with the UGM Entrance Examination (UM UGM) held at UGM’s Jakarta campus. The event was led by drg. Aryan Morita, M.Sc., Ph.D. and drg. Heriati Sitosari, MDSc., Ph.D. This opportunity was used to provide direct information to prospective students and their parents about the IUP at FKG UGM. The promotion in Jakarta is part of a broader effort to expand outreach and attract potential students, particularly from the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area, which has one of the highest demands for higher education in Indonesia.

During the promotion, several activities were offered:

  • Direct consultation on the IUP admission and selection process
  • Explanation of the curriculum, international pathways, and student exchange opportunities
  • Information on academic facilities and teaching clinics
  • Distribution of brochures, profile videos, and educational souvenirs

The IUP at FKG UGM offers several distinctive advantages compared to other dental schools in Indonesia, including:

  • The only dental faculty in Indonesia with a Dental Learning Center, a modern facility supporting technology-based and simulation-driven preclinical learning.
  • The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (S1 KG) program at FKG UGM has received international accreditation from ASIIN (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics), based in Germany—reflecting globally recognized educational quality.
  • Opportunities for student exchanges and clinical electives abroad through partnerships with international universities.
  • A globally competitive learning environment, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches, digitalized learning, and access to cutting-edge research.

Visitor response to the UGM booth was highly positive. Many students and parents enthusiastically sought further information, both about the IUP and career prospects for UGM dentistry graduates. They actively engaged in discussions about admission pathways, campus life, and the international opportunities provided by the program.

Some notable feedback included:

  • Parents expressing appreciation for UGM’s initiative to open an international track that prepares graduates for global competitiveness.
  • Students showing strong interest after learning that IUP courses are delivered in English and provide international exposure.
