The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has collaborated with the Society of Medical and Biological Engineering from Universiti Malaya (MSMBE) to host the International Conference for Innovation in Biomedical Engineering and Life Sciences (ICIBEL) 2024 at Eastparc Hotel, Yogyakarta, on 22-23 September 2024. The conference aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas and the latest research in the fields of biomedical engineering and life sciences.
This event is part of the collaboration between Universiti Malaya and UGM, which has been established since the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2022. ICIBEL 2024 is a tangible manifestation of international collaboration supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The scientific seminar's implementation is realized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between MSMBE and UGM, involving the Faculty of Dentistry, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Graduate School of UGM. The MoA was signed by Prof. Ir. Dr. Fatimah Ibrahim, President of the Society of Medical and Biological Engineering (MSMBE), and representatives from the Faculty of Dentistry at UGM, drg. Trianna Wahyu Utami, MDSc, Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration, along with Dr. Widyanto Dwi Nugroho, S.Hut., M.Agr., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Cooperation of the Graduate School at UGM. The signing was witnessed by Prof. Ratko Magjarevic, President of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering, and Prof. Dr. Puji Astuti, S.Si., M.Sc., Apt, Director of Partnerships and Global Relations at UGM.
The interdisciplinary collaboration among the Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Engineering, and Graduate School of UGM, along with MSMBE, adds significant value to the organization of this seminar. ICIBEL 2024 is expected to be a platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners to discuss the latest innovations in biomedical fields and expand collaborative networks.
Furthermore, this conference also presents an opportunity for participants to explore potential collaborations among institutions in Indonesia, Malaysia, and other involved countries. ICIBEL 2024 is anticipated not only to serve as a knowledge-sharing forum but also to stimulate innovations that positively impact society.
