“Because the Learning Process Is a Journey That Needs to Be Celebrated…”

Equally engaging as other sessions, the academic discussion session with the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FKG UGM, Prof. Dr. drg. Rosa Amalia, M.Kes., explained that although student activities at FKG UGM are quite busy, the curriculum has been designed so that students can achieve competencies and graduate on time by following the given academic guidelines. On average, dental students can graduate in 3.5 years, although the maximum time is 4 years, with the professional program continuing for about 2 years. It is important for students to understand the courses, rules, and ethics that apply. In addition to academics, there are student units that provide balancing activities and soft skillsdevelopment, as well as a counseling guidance team ready to help students deal with academic or personal issues, including mental health. Prof. Rosa emphasized that students should enjoy the learning process from beginning to end as a valuable journey and as a form of achieving dreams and parents’ hopes. The discussion closed with words of gratitude and information about the session of presenting plaques and certificates to the speakers.

The key tips are to follow all available guidelines, carefully read the academic handbook, comply with the applicable rules, and pay attention to courses from the first year to the last. Students can meet the counseling guidance team (BK), consisting of several lecturers including drg. Fadyl, who are ready to help students with academic or personal issues. Student activities serve as a balance, helping students build wider networks and friendships, while adding soft skills so that daily activities do not feel too burdensome. “Enjoy every process from the first semester until the end, because the learning process is a journey that needs to be celebrated and is a beautiful gift for students and also a hope for parents,” concluded Prof. Rosa.
