Dr. drg. Rezmelia Sari, M.Sc., Sp.Perio (K) represented the Department of Periodontics, Faculty of Dentistry UGM, at the One Day on Guided Bone Regeneration (GBR) seminar in Jakarta on 24 August 2025. GBR is an essential bone regeneration technique in periodontics and implantology. Advances in science, materials, and clinical protocols increasingly demand practitioners to update their knowledge and skills in order to deliver optimal, predictable, and aesthetic treatment outcomes. Through the One Day GBR Masterclass , featuring Prof. Jeongcheol Park (DDS) as the keynote speaker, participants were expected to gain an understanding of both the basic concepts and advanced strategies in planning and performing GBR procedures according to the type of bone defect.
The objectives of this seminar included: improving professional competence, enhancing knowledge of GBR’s basic principles and strategies, and applying the latest techniques in the management of bone defects and extraction sockets. It also aimed to encourage collaboration across multiple disciplines in periodontic practice, build professional networks among dentists, residents, and dental students, adopt new techniques in periodontal treatment, strengthen collaboration, and establish partnerships with institutional and non-institutional bodies for knowledge exchange and research.
The One Day GBR Masterclass successfully fulfilled its goals in enhancing professional competence, reinforcing multidisciplinary collaboration, and raising awareness of the role of Sustainable Development Goals in periodontics practice. Moving forward, it is expected that the knowledge and insights gained from this seminar can be applied in both clinical practice and education, thereby contributing to improving the quality of oral health services in Indonesia, particularly in the field of periodontics.
