In the spirit of preserving culture and strengthening collaboration among specialist dentists, the Indonesian Conservative Dentistry Association (IKORGI) successfully held the Gala Dinner Carnival Vaganza at Gran Senyiur Hotel, Balikpapan, on Thursday, 12 October 2024. This event was designed as a gathering to foster camaraderie and appreciation for the role of dentists in supporting public health and quality education in Indonesia.

The event was attended by conservative dentistry specialists from various renowned institutions, including Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Trisakti, Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), and Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad). In her opening speech, Drg. Rahmadani Puspitasari, MDSc., as the event chairperson, emphasized the importance of synergy in dental health. “This Gala Dinner is not only a networking opportunity but also supports ongoing efforts to improve oral health and quality education in conservative dentistry, in line with the SDGs vision,” she stated.

With the theme "Carnival Vaganza," the event featured artistic performances combining traditional and modern dances inspired by Indonesian heritage. These performances highlighted the diversity and richness of Indonesian culture. Additionally, the Gala Dinner was enhanced by the presentation of Kalimantan's signature dishes, delighting the attendees. The event's highlight was an awards session recognizing outstanding individuals and institutions in dental health and education.

Participants from various regions enthusiastically engaged in the event. One participant, Drg. Ayu Saraswati, Sp.KG., shared, “This event provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge and strengthen professional relationships while enjoying Indonesia's rich cultural heritage.”

Beyond fostering unity, the Gala Dinner also served as a platform to introduce and promote the importance of preserving local culture among healthcare professionals. A warm and friendly atmosphere was evident as all participants danced together at the end of the event, symbolizing harmony and synergy among Indonesia's conservative dentistry practitioners.

This event also reflects FKG UGM's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 4 (Quality Education). Through this initiative, IKORGI reaffirms its dedication to sustainable development in the dental health and education sectors in Indonesia.
