The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) hosted a working visit from Rumah Sakit Umum Daerah Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie Samarinda (RSUD AWS). Drg. Margareta Rinastiti, Sp.KG(K), M.Kes., Ph.D., the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, welcomed the visit. The event, held in the Meeting Room on Thursday, 20 June 2024, focused on discussing Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology in the field of dentistry.
In her address, Drg. Rinastiti highlighted that FKG UGM is increasingly adopting digital technology in dentistry.
“Scientific knowledge is continuously advancing, and we are moving towards digital dentistry,” she said. She also noted that FKG UGM has a dedicated unit managing digital dentistry activities, which regularly conducts CAD/CAM training for students and faculty.
drg. Budi Baskoro Argo, Head of the Medical Support Division at RSUD AWS, expressed a strong interest in exploring CAD/CAM technology due to its significance in modern dentistry.
“RSUD Abdoel Wahab Sjahranie is the educational hospital for the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Mulawarman. It is also the top referral hospital in East Kalimantan, located in Samarinda. Therefore, it is crucial for us to learn about CAD/CAM technology,” said Budi.
During the discussion, Drg. Trianna Wahyu Utami, Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration, suggested that the outcomes of this working visit be documented in a cooperation agreement.
This proposal received a positive response from the RSUD AWS team, who indicated they would follow up to establish a collaboration with FKG UGM.
Following the discussion, the visit continued with a tour of the CAD/CAM laboratory at FKG UGM, located in the Dental Learning Center building.
This activity aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 4 (Quality Education), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
