FKG UGM Welcomes Dr. Sachiko Takehara from Niigata University

The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) welcomed Dr. Sachiko Takehara, Associate Professor from Niigata University, Japan, for a visit. The meeting took place at the Dean's Room of FKG UGM and focused on the ongoing research collaboration between the two institutions on 14 October 2024.

During her five-day visit from 14 to 18 October 2024, Dr. Takehara is scheduled to participate in various activities at FKG UGM. In addition to a courtesy meeting with faculty leaders, she will give guest lectures in the Dental Hygiene Education Program (PSHG) and the Master’s Program in Dental Science (IKG).

Dr. Sachiko Takehara is an expert in Preventive Dentistry at the Department of Oral Health Science, Niigata University Graduate School of Medical and Dental Sciences. Her expertise focuses on preventing oral diseases and developing effective strategies to improve public dental health. This visit strengthens the collaborative efforts between the two universities in advancing research in the field of preventive dentistry.

According to drg. Lisdrianto Hanindriyo, MPH., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Preventive Dentistry (IKGP) and Dental Public Health (IKGM), Dr. Takehara has been collaborating with FKG UGM on research over the past two years. "Today, we discussed the potential for further research collaboration," said Dr. Lisdrianto.

The Dean of FKG UGM also expressed appreciation for this collaboration: "We hope that this partnership will not only strengthen the relationship between our institutions but also make significant contributions to the development of dental science in the future."

Dr. Takehara’s visit is expected to expand the positive impact on the development of preventive dental health science, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3, which aims to ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all ages, and Goal 17, which emphasizes the importance of partnerships to achieve these goals through collaboration between educational and research institutions.
