FKG UGM Expands Drinking Water Facilities on Campus

The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) has expanded its drinking water system facilities on campus since May 2024. This initiative aims to provide significant benefits for all members of the academic community, including students, faculty, and staff.

The drinking water system is installed at various points across the FKG UGM campus to ensure the availability of clean and healthy water for the entire campus community. “This effort not only enhances comfort but also promotes a healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle by reducing the use of single-use plastic bottles,” said Buana Yaksa Surya Atmaja, S.T., M.Eng, coordinator of facilities and infrastructure at FKG UGM (August 30).

Buana mentioned that FKG UGM currently has 9 non-gallon water dispensers installed in several buildings: 3 units in the Sutatmi Suryo Building, 2 units in the Harkati Dewanto Building, 2 units in the Subagyo H.W. Building, 1 unit in the Dental Learning Center, and 1 unit in the OECF Building.

This system uses a tank with a capacity of 250 liters, which supplies water to 12 dispensers with a capacity of 19 liters per gallon. It is worth noting that Universitas Gadjah Mada has also issued a directive to use reusable water bottles in various units.

FKG UGM has coordinated with Toyagama, which is responsible for regulating and ensuring the quality of drinking water on campus. “The drinking water available at FKG UGM has passed the water quality standard tests conducted by the Bantul District Health Office,” Buana stated.

In addition to the drinking water installations, FKG UGM is also enhancing its sports facilities. The availability of these facilities supports a balance between academic achievement and health, serving as a venue for positive activities.
