Yogyakarta, July 25, 2026 – The Faculty of Dentistry of Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) once again organized a National Computer-Based Test (CBT) Mock Examination for 101 students enrolled in the Professional Dental Education Program on Saturday (July 25). As a nationally standardized routine program, the activity reflects FKG UGM’s commitment to preparing students for the National Competency Examination for Dental Professional Program Students (UKOMNAS) through an examination simulation designed in accordance with national implementation standards.
The mock examination was conducted in two sessions using a Computer-Based Test (CBT) system that closely resembles the UKOMNAS examination mechanism. Participants followed all stages of the examination process, including examination procedures, time management, and question completion, allowing them to gain a comprehensive understanding of the competency assessment they will face after completing their professional education.
A Nationally Standardized Activity
The examination questions used in this activity were prepared by the national committee, ensuring that the tested materials were aligned with national dental competency standards. Beyond serving as a practice session, this simulation also provided students with an opportunity to evaluate their learning achievements, identify areas requiring further improvement, and strengthen their preparation before taking the UKOMNAS examination.
The Central Supervisory Representative, Dr. Dwi Aji Nugroho, DDS, M.D.Sc., who is also an alumnus of FKG UGM from undergraduate, professional, and doctoral levels, appreciated the faculty’s consistency in organizing this program as part of its student development process.
“I am grateful to return to FKG UGM, where I completed my education from the undergraduate, professional, and doctoral levels. For me, this mock examination is not merely practice for facing an exam, but also a form of continuous effort and commitment toward achieving the goal of becoming a dentist. Competence cannot be developed instantly; it requires consistent learning, the willingness to continuously improve, and readiness to face every stage of evaluation,” he said.
According to Dwi Aji, simulations based on national standards provide valuable experiences for students, not only in measuring academic abilities but also in developing mental readiness when facing competency examinations.
“Opportunities like this should be utilized as effectively as possible. Students are not only practicing how to answer questions but also learning how to manage time, understand the examination process, and evaluate their own readiness. These preparations will help them become competent and professional dentists who can provide safe and high-quality healthcare services to the community,” he added.
Improving Student Readiness
The benefits of this activity were also directly experienced by participants. One student from the Professional Dental Education Program at FKG UGM stated that the simulation helped them better understand the UKOMNAS process while increasing their confidence.
“The National Mock Examination has been very helpful in preparing us for the upcoming National Competency Examination. Through this mock test, we gained an overview of what the actual competency examination will be like,” said Auladi Arya, SKG.
Arya also expressed hope that similar activities could be held regularly to further strengthen students’ preparation for the competency examination.
The implementation of the National CBT Mock Examination represents FKG UGM’s commitment to maintaining the quality of professional dental education through continuous learning and evaluation processes. Collaboration with the national committee in preparing examination questions and conducting simulations further strengthens the alignment between university education and the national competency standards required for future dentists.
Through various learning and evaluation innovations, FKG UGM continues to create an academic environment that supports comprehensive student competency development. These efforts are expected to produce graduates who are not only academically excellent but also professionally prepared, ethically responsible, and capable of making meaningful contributions to improving dental healthcare services for Indonesian communities.
