FKG UGM Welcomes Prof. Kin Cheng Hai from Tokushima University to Expand Collaboration and Strengthen Alumni Network

Yogyakarta — The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) welcomed a visit from Prof. Kin (Jin) Cheng Hai, a professor from Tokushima University, on Tuesday, 26 November 2024. This visit aimed to explore potential academic collaborations between the two institutions, particularly in enhancing human resource development in dental education.

The visit commenced with a Courtesy Meeting attended by Prof. Kin Cheng Hai, Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., MM., Ph.D., and Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration, drg. Trianna Wahyu Utami, MSDc., Ph.D.. During the meeting, both parties discussed various collaborative opportunities to strengthen ties between FKG UGM and Tokushima University, with a primary focus on developing human resources through joint education and research initiatives.

Following the meeting, the Tokushima Alumni Meeting took place, bringing together 17 lecturers from FKG UGM who had previously studied at Tokushima University. The event also featured a testimony from Tiffany Winata, a student in the Dental Professional Program who participated in the Tokushima SEP Inbound Program 2023. Additionally, the meeting was attended by academic staff members currently pursuing specialist training and planning to continue their doctoral studies at Tokushima University.

Prof. Kin Cheng Hai expressed his appreciation for the event and emphasized Tokushima University’s openness to welcoming lecturers from FKG UGM for doctoral studies. “We warmly welcome lecturers from FKG UGM who wish to pursue their Ph.D. at Tokushima. Send your students to us—we will be more than happy to have them,” he stated.

The visit concluded with a Lab Tour at the Dental Learning Center (DLC) Building of FKG UGM. Prof. Kin Cheng Hai explored various state-of-the-art laboratories, which support education, research, and clinical practice in dentistry. He was highly impressed by the advanced facilities at FKG UGM, further reinforcing hopes for innovative and sustainable collaboration between the two institutions.

With a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of education, this visit marks a positive step forward in strengthening partnerships between FKG UGM and Tokushima University. This initiative also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
