Education plays an important role in shaping young generations who are prepared to face the future. Through education, individuals can develop ways of thinking and the ability to adapt to various changes. This spirit was evident at the Global EduFair (GEF) 2025 held at Universitas Gadjah Mada on Thursday (6/11).
Global EduFair is an educational exhibition featuring various universities from within Indonesia and abroad. The event also presents professional partners, scholarship providers, and skill development institutions. The activity was organized by the Gelanggang Inovasi dan Kreativitas (GIK) UGM as an effort to broaden perspectives and expand international networks in the field of higher education.
One of the faculties participating in the expo was the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) UGM. FKG introduced two undergraduate study programs, namely Dental Education and Dental Hygiene. In addition, FKG also offers eight specialist programs, two master’s programs, and one doctoral program.
The Head of the Academic and Student Affairs Working Team of FKG UGM, Dyana Rakhmasari Kusumaningsih, S.E., M.Ec. Dev., explained that the Dental Education program prepares students to become competent and professional dentists. “This program is undertaken over four years to obtain a Bachelor of Dental Science degree. After that, students continue to the professional dental education or clinical clerkship (co-ass) for two years. To obtain the dentist degree, students must pass the Dental Professional Program Student Competency Examination (UKMP2DG),” said Dyana (6/11).
Furthermore, Dyana explained that the Dental Hygiene Study Program focuses on the prevention of oral diseases and the improvement of community dental health. This program also emphasizes the importance of technology in supporting research activities and community service. Dental hygiene graduates have wide career opportunities. They can work as health promoters, clinic managers, health program planners, researchers, lecturers, or establish their own businesses in the health sector.

Amid the lively exhibition atmosphere, two students from SMA Negeri 1 Yogyakarta, Asya and Kansa, were seen enthusiastically visiting the FKG UGM arious dental student content on social media. booth . Asya admitted that she is interested in biology and aspires to become a dentist. Although she is still in Grade 10, she has begun to seriously study biology and chemistry as preparation for entering higher education. To become more familiar with the field of dentistry, Asya has participated in FKG UGM open house open house activities and frequently watches various dental student content on social media.
Meanwhile, Kansa stated that her interest grew after being introduced to the field of dentistry through her family. She often reads her relative’s class notes as a way to understand the learning process in the faculty of dentistry. For her, the most important thing at present is to focus on studying and maintain motivation in order to realize her dream of becoming a dentist.
On this occasion, FKG UGM also introduced the International Class of the Dental Education Study Program to visitors. This program uses English as the language of instruction and provides opportunities for students to study in a multicultural environment. Students can participate in student exchange programs, joint courses with partner universities, as well as opportunities to engage in international research activities.
The International Class was first opened in 2025 and currently has only one cohort with approximately 20 students. All learning processes, from lectures to academic discussions, are conducted in English. Through this program, FKG UGM seeks to produce graduates with a global perspective who are ready to compete at the international level.
