UGM Faculty of Dentistry Celebrates Indonesia's 79th Independence Day

A solemn atmosphere filled the courtyard of Balairung at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) during the celebration of Indonesia’s 79th Independence Day on 17 August 2024. Amid the sounds of the national anthem and the sight of the red-and-white flag waving proudly, lecturers from the Department of Conservative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) UGM, participated with great patriotic enthusiasm. Dressed in traditional attire, they took part in the grand ceremony held at UGM’s Yogyakarta campus with a sense of pride.

The ceremony was led by UGM Rector, Prof. dr. Ova Emilia, M.Med., Ed., Sp.OG(K), Ph.D. In her speech, Prof. Ova emphasized the crucial role of education as the foundation of national development. “The quality of education is the cornerstone for Indonesia’s progress,” she passionately stated.

The FKG UGM lecturers attended not merely as a formality but as a demonstration of their commitment to the nation. Their active participation reflected how patriotism can be expressed through various forms of contribution.

This event also highlighted FKG UGM’s support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, which underscores the importance of education as a key to sustaining independence and national advancement.
