FKG UGM Becomes a Pioneer in LAM-PTKes Accreditation for the Doctoral Program in Dental Science

On 23 September 2025, the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), conducted a pilot field assessment for LAM-PTKes accreditation of the Doctoral Program in Dental Science on 22–24 September 2025 at the Margono Suradji Building, FKG UGM.

Two LAM-PTKes assessors were present in this process, namely Prof. Dr. drg. Eha Renwi Astuti, M.Kes., Sp.RKG., Subsp.RDP(K) and Prof. Dr. drg. Hendra Dian Adhita Dharsono, Sp.KG., Subsp.KE(K).

This activity was part of the implementation of the new qualitative accreditation system of LAM-PTKes, which consists of eight standards with comprehensive assessment and emphasis on the safety of students, faculty members, and educational staff.

In her remarks, the Vice Dean of FKG UGM, drg. Margareta Rinastiti, M.Kes., Sp.KG. Subsp.KR(K)., Ph.D., stated that the Dean of FKG UGM was attending the World University of Innovation (WURI) Conference in Busan, South Korea, where FKG UGM received international recognition:

  • 8th worldwide in the Industrial Application category
  • 25th worldwide in the Cultural Value category
  • 29th worldwide in the Technology Application category

“This is a manifestation of the faculty’s commitment to innovation in education, research, and contribution to society,” she stated.

The FKG UGM Doctoral Program Continues to Advance

The Head of the Doctoral Program, Prof. Dr. drg. Widowati Siswomi Harjo, MS, reported that since its establishment in 2017, the program has developed rapidly, with increasing academic achievements and stronger international collaboration.

The FKG UGM doctoral program features:

  • Research excellence-based learning system
  • Highly indexed international publications (Q1–Q3)
  • Research collaboration and co-supervision with global partner universities
  • Integrated international-standard research laboratory facilities
  • Curriculum oriented to KKNI level 9 and scholarly integrity scholarly integrity

In addition, doctoral students receive intensive mentoring through scheduled academic seminars, progress monitoring, and internal support for publication and intellectual property.

UGM Promotes National Academic Quality Synergy

This pilot process is a crucial part of refining the national accreditation instrument. “We hope this pilot contributes strategically not only to the FKG UGM doctoral program, but also to the health higher education accreditation system in Indonesia,” said Prof. Widowati.

FKG UGM Ready to Achieve Excellent Accreditation

Currently, 12 of 13 study programs at FKG UGM have achieved Excellent accreditation, and the faculty is targeting all programs, including the doctoral program, to obtain the same recognition. FKG UGM continues to strengthen the inclusion of students with disabilities, global collaboration, research downstreaming, and national-scale community service programs.

With the implementation of this pilot assessment, FKG UGM further solidifies its position as a leading dental education institution with strong global competitiveness.
