FKG UGM Strengthens Re-Accreditation Preparation for the Oral Medicine

Yogyakarta, 22 December 2025 — The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), continues to strengthen its preparation for the re-accreditation of the Oral Medicine Specialist Program by conducting a simulation and review of accreditation forms. This activity is a crucial step in ensuring compliance with all standards set by the Independent Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes).

The accreditation form simulation was held on Monday (22/12) at the 3rd Floor Auditorium of the Margono Soeradji Building, FKG UGM. The event involved faculty leaders, lecturers, quality assurance teams, administrative staff, and representatives of oral medicine specialist residents. The participation of these various stakeholders reflects a collaborative approach to maintaining and enhancing the quality of specialist professional education.

Two internal UGM assessors acting as simulators—Prof. drg. Diatri Nari Ratih, MKes., Sp.KG., Subsp. KE(K)., Ph.D., and dr. Yudha Nurhantari, Sp.F.M., Ph.D.—provided evaluations and feedback on the prepared accreditation documents. The assessment was conducted comprehensively, covering aspects such as the program’s vision and mission, curriculum, learning process, assessment methods, human resources, facilities and infrastructure, and the internal quality assurance system.

In her opening remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FKG UGM, Prof. Dr. drg. Rosa Amalia, M.Kes., emphasized that the simulation was not merely a formality ahead of re-accreditation, but a means of reflection and continuous improvement. According to her, accreditation should not focus solely on document assessment, but also on the alignment between planning, implementation, and educational outcomes.

“We want to ensure that all educational processes in the Oral Medicine Specialist Program meet established standards and are able to address community needs, particularly in the field of oral and dental healthcare services,” said Prof. Rosa.

The Head of the Department of Oral Medicine at FKG UGM, Prof. Dr. drg. Dewi Agustina, MD.Sc., added that the program plays a strategic role in scientific development and healthcare services, especially in responding to the increasing prevalence of oral diseases among the elderly population. Therefore, the preparation of accreditation documents is also directed at highlighting the program’s strengths in academic, clinical, research, and community service aspects.

During the simulation session, the assessors provided several notes, including recommendations on strengthening the involvement of internal and external stakeholders, enhancing curriculum integration with research and community service, and improving documentation of follow-up actions from evaluations and internal quality audits. The discussion was interactive, with participants actively providing clarifications and outlining follow-up plans in response to the feedback.

This activity is expected to enhance the readiness of the Oral Medicine Specialist Program at FKG UGM in facing the official accreditation process. More broadly, the accreditation form simulation reflects the institution’s commitment to fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement in the delivery of higher education in health.

With thorough preparation and the involvement of all academic elements, FKG UGM remains optimistic about maintaining and improving the program’s quality achievements, while strengthening its contribution to producing competent and competitive oral medicine specialists.
