The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) held the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) examination as part of the student admission process for the International Undergraduate Program (IUP) on Saturday (24/5/2025). The activity was attended by 42 participants, including five international applicants from China and Malaysia.
The MMPI served as the next stage after participants successfully passed the first round of selection, namely the Academic English Proficiency Test (AcEPT) and Gadjah Mada Scholastic Test (GMST). Participants took the test online under supervision from the facilitator team.
Prof. drg. Rosa Amalia, M.Kes., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at FKG UGM, congratulated all participants who had successfully passed the initial stage of selection. She emphasized the importance of multi-stage selection to admit prospective students who excel not only academically but are also mentally prepared as future dental professionals.
“To produce professional dentists, strong academic ability is required. That is why in this selection process, we are highly selective and conduct several stages,” Prof. Rosa explained.
Meanwhile, Irwan Supriyanto, one of the MMPI facilitators, explained that the test is designed to measure participants’ psychological resilience and personality compatibility with the academic and professional world of dentistry.
“This test has no right or wrong answers. Participants are asked to answer honestly, choosing the statements that best reflect their personal condition,” Irwan clarified.
He further added that the MMPI covers various psychological aspects, including stress management, emotional stability, and personal responsibility. One section of the test also addresses sensitive issues such as sexuality and gender identity, which serve as important indicators in assessing participants’ holistic personality integrity.
The implementation of the MMPI examination reflects FKG UGM’s commitment to maintaining the quality of the admission process, especially for its international program that requires both high academic readiness and mental resilience.
