The Prosthodontics Study Program, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), once again organized an International Guest Lecture featuring an international prosthodontics expert, Prof. Cortino Sukotjo, DDS, PhD, MMSc, MHPE, Professor and Chair of the Department of Prosthodontics, School of Dental Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, United States.
Held on Thursday, 13 November 2025, the event featured two main topics highly relevant to current academic and clinical needs: “Full Mouth Reconstruction: Prosthetically Driven Treatment Planning and Integrating Analog Prosthodontics Principles with Digital Workflow” and “Publishing with Impact: How to Get Your Work Accepted in the JPD (Scopus indexed Q1, IF: 4.8).”
Integrating Analog and Digital Principles in Modern Prosthodontics
In the first session, Prof. Cortino provided an in-depth discussion on how conventional analog prosthodontic principles can be effectively integrated with modern digital technologies. According to him, successful full-mouth reconstruction depends not only on technical skills but also on a comprehensive understanding of the biological, mechanical, and aesthetic principles underlying prosthetically driven treatment planning.
The transition toward a digital workflow in prosthodontics—from diagnosis and prosthetic design planning to CAD/CAM-based manufacturing—presents both challenges and opportunities for residents to enhance precision, efficiency, and clinical service quality.

FKG UGM’s Commitment to Enhancing Global Competence
The event was attended by all faculty members and Prosthodontics residents of FKG UGM from the 2022 to 2025 cohorts, with full support from senior faculty members, including drg. Murti Indrastuti, M.Kes., Sp.Pros.(K), Dr. drg. Sri Budi Barunawati, M.Kes., Sp.Pros.(K), and Prof. Dr. drg. Titik Ismiyati, MS., Sp.Pros.(K).
Through this guest lecture, the Prosthodontics Study Program of FKG UGM reaffirmed its commitment to producing graduates who excel in clinical skills, are productive in scientific publication, and are adaptive to digital innovation. The activity also forms part of the faculty’s strategy to strengthen academic quality and international reputation in prosthodontics.
With the successful implementation of this lecture, Prosthodontics residents and faculty members at FKG UGM are expected to be better prepared to face the challenges of the digital era while actively contributing to high-quality international scientific publications.
