Bandung, 23 November 2024 – On the sidelines of the Oral Medicine Conference 4 (OMC4), the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) explored opportunities for a strategic research collaboration with Universiti Malaya, Malaysia, focusing on Oral Cancer. This collaboration is crucial in advancing research on oral cancer, one of the most common types of cancer worldwide.
The discussion involved Prof. W. M. Tilakaratne, a leading expert in Oral Cancer from Universiti Malaya, and Prof. drg. Dewi Agustina, MD.Sc., MD.Sc., who deliberated on concrete steps to strengthen cooperation in this field.
“I am optimistic that this collaboration will bring significant progress in oral cancer research and strengthen dental education through a much-needed multidisciplinary approach,” said Prof. Dewi Agustina.
This partnership is expected to accelerate joint research development, expand knowledge in Oral Medicine, and enhance oral cancer management by deepening understanding of its causes and treatments. Furthermore, FKG UGM plans to invite Prof. W. M. Tilakaratne for a guest lecture in 2025, further strengthening academic and research collaboration between the two institutions.
