The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) held a coordination meeting with TVRI Yogyakarta on Friday, 14 February 2025. The meeting aimed to explore opportunities for collaboration in disseminating dental and oral health education to the public through television and digital media.
Attending the meeting from FKG UGM were Dean Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Research, Community Service, and Collaboration drg. Trianna Wahyu Utami, MDSc., Ph.D., and Community Service Manager drg. Yosaphat Bayu Rosanto, Sp.BMM. From TVRI Yogyakarta, attendees included Ms. Iwung Sri Widiati, Samsul Bahri, and Barlian.
During the discussion, Prof. Suryono emphasized the importance of innovation in delivering health education to the public. He encouraged joint efforts to develop creative approaches. "Let’s work together to create engaging programs that ensure the sustainability of our institutions," said Suryono.
TVRI Yogyakarta warmly welcomed the proposed collaboration. Iwung Sri Widiati explained that TVRI has embraced media convergence, expanding beyond traditional TV broadcasts to include digital platforms.
"At TVRI, we are able to broadcast through both television and social media. We recognize the rapid development of the digital world and are adapting our programs to the media that are widely used by the public," Iwung said.
FKG UGM has the resources to support this initiative. According to drg. Yosaphat Bayu Rosanto, Sp.BMM, FKG UGM offers a wide range of disciplines related to dental and oral health, as well as numerous community service activities that could serve as educational content.
"In 2024 alone, we conducted 710 community service activities. If TVRI would be willing to cover them, we would be delighted. The dissemination of research findings can also be turned into engaging promotional content that is easier for the public to understand," Yosaphat added.
This collaboration is expected to benefit FKG UGM, TVRI Yogyakarta, and the wider community. "With broader information outreach, dental and oral health education will be more accessible, encouraging the public to adopt healthier lifestyles," said Trianna at the end of the event.
