Faculty of Dentistry-UGM Soars Into Global Top 50, Surpassing Elite Universities

In the 2024 World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), the Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) achieved a remarkable milestone by entering the world’s top 50 in various categories, surpassing several prestigious universities worldwide.

Key Achievements:

1. Entrepreneurial Spirit (Top 6): The Faculty’s “Ge Pro” program ranked 6th, outpacing Harvard University (ranked 12th) and the University of Oxford (ranked 13th) among 100 global universities in the entrepreneurial spirit category. This accomplishment underscores the Faculty’s success in equipping graduates to become innovative and solution-oriented professionals.

2. Social Responsibility (Top 9): In the Cleft Lip and Palate (CLP) program, the UGM Faculty of Dentistry ranked 9th globally, ahead of New York University (ranked 12th) among 100 universities in the social responsibility category. This ranking highlights the Faculty’s significant role in society through dental health education and services.

3. Student Mobility and Openness (Top 27): The UGM Faculty of Dentistry Summer Course Program ranked 27th out of 100 universities in the student mobility and openness category, surpassing Tokyo International University (ranked 38th). This demonstrates the Faculty’s success in fostering international networks and providing global experiences for its students.

The WURI ranking is distinctive in its emphasis on the real-world impact of universities beyond traditional academic metrics. The Faculty’s impressive debut signals that dental education in Indonesia, particularly at UGM, has attained world-class standards in innovation, social responsibility, and global openness.

The Faculty’s achievements align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Good Health and Wellbeing (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure (SDG 9), Reducing Inequality (SDG 10), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).

This remarkable debut has placed the Faculty of Dentistry UGM on the global map of innovative universities. As it continues its journey of excellence, it is setting new benchmarks for dental education and research in Indonesia and beyond.
