Support from IKGA Professors at BKGN 2024

Lecturers from the Pediatric Dentistry Specialist Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), provided full support for the National Dental Health Month (BKGN) 2024, held from 17-19 December 2024, at FKG UGM. One of the key supporters was Prof. Dr. drg. Al. Supartinah, SU., Sp.KGA (K-PKOA), a distinguished professor in the field of pediatric dentistry.

BKGN 2024 offered free dental and oral health consultations to the public, an initiative aimed at raising awareness about the importance of oral health. This effort aligns with the broader goal of reducing mortality rates caused by dental diseases, which often result from limited access to professional healthcare services. “This is an opportunity for everyone to receive professional dental care at no cost,” said Prof. Supartinah, expressing hope that the event would encourage widespread community participation.

Beyond healthcare services, this event emphasized public education on the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene. “Education is a crucial component in promoting sustainable health practices,” Prof. Supartinah stated. She emphasized that through this initiative, the public not only receives immediate care but also gains essential knowledge on how to maintain oral health in the long term.

BKGN 2024 was supported by various stakeholders, including government institutions, nonprofit organizations, and dental health professionals, all working together to ensure that services reach those in need the most. This collaboration highlights the importance of a cross-sectoral approach in promoting holistic public health improvements.

In conclusion, FKG UGM’s support for National Dental Health Month 2024 reflects its commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This event directly contributes to: SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by providing access to dental healthcare; SDG 4 (Quality Education) through health education initiatives; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaborations with various organizations to achieve common public health objectives.
