The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) participated in the UGM Sustainable Campus Award 2024 held on 22 August 2024. This event focused on energy efficiency, water usage, and waste management within the campus environment.
Representatives from FKG UGM included Dr. drg. Heni Susilowati, M.Kes., Ph.D., Chair of the Dental Learning Center, Wulansari Ahmad, Head of the FKG UGM Office, and the Facilities and Infrastructure team, who contributed to supporting this program.
In support of the sustainable campus initiative, FKG UGM optimized the use of Toyagama through a modified dispenser directly connected to the Toyagama water source. “This way, we have successfully reduced plastic bottle waste while also saving on operational costs,” said drg. Heni.
FKG UGM has also implemented various energy-saving measures, such as encouraging the use of stairs instead of elevators, turning off lights during office breaks, using air conditioning only when necessary, utilizing natural light by opening window coverings, and installing posters and stickers promoting energy conservation on electronic devices.
“These simple steps can make a significant impact on reducing energy consumption and preserving our campus environment,” added Dr. Heni. This initiative aims to enhance resource efficiency at UGM and foster an environmentally conscious attitude among the academic community at FKG UGM.
