The Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) has once again achieved international recognition through one of its young lecturers from the Department of Dental Biomaterials Science (IBKG), Drg. Mutiara Annisa, M.DSc. Commonly known as Drg. Mumu, she has recently been awarded the prestigious Monbukagakusho (MEXT) Scholarship from the Japanese government to pursue her doctoral studies at Niigata University.
The MEXT Scholarship is not only an opportunity for academic advancement but also a gateway for drg. Mutiara to explore cutting-edge technology and research in Japan, a pioneer in the field of biomaterials. She hopes that the knowledge she acquires will contribute significantly to the development of biomaterials science in Indonesia. “I am very excited and see this as a great opportunity to learn from experts in Japan. I hope to bring back innovations and new insights that will benefit the progress of FKG UGM,” she said enthusiastically.
Full support has been extended from the IBKG Department of FKG UGM, including from the Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. drg. Siti Sunarintyas, M.Kes., who expressed her pride in drg. Mutiara’s achievement. “We are very proud and hope that drg. Mutiara’s doctoral studies will yield valuable results not only for the department but also for the broader development of biomaterials science in Indonesia,” said Prof. Siti Sunarintyas. She also emphasized that this academic pursuit is expected to strengthen the academic collaboration between FKG UGM and Japanese health institutions, fostering more research and educational partnerships.
drg. Mutiara Annisa’s academic journey aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
