Young Lecturers from UGM's Department of Conservative Dentistry Participate in the 5th Universiti Malaya – China Medical University Joint Postgraduate Research Symposium

Two talented young lecturers from the Department of Conservative Dentistry, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), Drg. Rahmadani Puspitasari, MDSc, and Drg. Fajar Satrio, have achieved international recognition through their participation in the 5th Universiti Malaya – China Medical University Joint Postgraduate Research Symposium. This prestigious symposium, held online on 5 December 2024, brought together researchers from various countries to share innovative findings in dentistry and medical technology.

drg. Rahmadani Puspitasari, MDSc, presented her groundbreaking research titled "3D Bioprinted Chitosan-based Cryogel as a Smart Injectable Scaffold for Immature Necrotic Permanent Teeth Treatment." Her study explores the use of chitosan-based biomaterials produced through 3D bioprinting technology to create an injectable smart cryogel. This innovation is designed to support tissue regeneration in immature necrotic permanent teeth, offering new hope for regenerative dental treatments. Meanwhile, Drg. Fajar Satrio contributed with his oral presentation on "Effect of Post Type on Fracture Resistance of Teeth with Flare Root Canal," which was well-received by symposium participants.

The symposium, jointly organized by Universiti Malaya (Malaysia) and China Medical University (Taiwan), focused on the applications of biomedical engineering in dentistry and the latest relevant research findings. This event provided a platform for knowledge exchange and global networking among academics, researchers, and practitioners. Dr. drg. Tunjung Nugraheni, M.Kes., Sp.KG.(K), Head of the Specialist Program in Conservative Dentistry at FKG UGM, expressed appreciation for the dedication and contributions of the two young lecturers. "The participation of Drg. Rahma and Drg. Fajar in this symposium reflects the quality and capability of UGM’s young academics, who excel not only nationally but also internationally. We are proud of their achievements and will continue to support innovative research that has a significant impact on the field of dentistry," she stated.

This symposium participation reinforces FKG UGM’s commitment to producing high-quality human resources capable of making real contributions to the advancement of science and technology both locally and globally. This achievement is expected to inspire other academics to further innovate and collaborate in various international forums.

This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly: SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by contributing to medical innovations that improve dental treatment quality; and SDG 4: Quality Education, by fostering high-quality research and knowledge-sharing in international forums.
