Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) once again held the Written Examination for Entrance Selection (UM UGM) in 2024, conducted from 2 to 4 July 2024. This annual selection process aims to filter prospective new students who excel and meet the established academic standards. As one of Indonesia's leading universities, UGM emphasizes the importance of maintaining quality and integrity in every stage of the selection.
In this year’s examination, lecturers played a strategic role as supervisors to ensure the exam was conducted orderly, safely, and fairly. The Department of Dental Biomaterials Science (IBKG) from the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) at UGM participated by sending three lecturers as supervisors: Prof. Dr. drg. Siti Sunarintyas, M.Kes., Dr. drg. Harsini, M.S., and drg. Mutiara Annisa, M.DSc. These lecturers were responsible for overseeing the implementation of the UM UGM Written Examination and the National Test-Based Selection (SNNBT) 2024.
Prof. Dr. drg. Siti Sunarintyas, M.Kes., Head of the IBKG Department, emphasized the importance of lecturer involvement in exam supervision. "As part of the academic community, our role is not only to teach and conduct research but also to ensure that the selection process for new students is transparent and fair. It is our moral and professional responsibility to uphold UGM’s reputation," said Prof. Siti Sunarintyas.
In addition to maintaining order during the exam, supervising lecturers were also tasked with ensuring all participants adhered to the established rules, such as using the appropriate stationery and prohibiting certain electronic devices in the exam room. Strict supervision was implemented to prevent potential cheating and provide equal opportunities for all participants.
The active participation of lecturers in the selection process reflects UGM’s commitment to quality education and supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through transparent and fair selection, FKG UGM supports SDG Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), creating an academic environment that fosters lifelong learning and ensures fairness in the education system.
