The Niken Memorial Scholarship Award 2024 was held at the Margono Soeradji Building, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), on Thursday, 19 December 2024. One of the most prestigious moments of the event was the awarding of drg. Dyah Anindya Widyasrini, MDSc, a lecturer from the IBKG Department of FKG UGM. She was honored with the Award Lecturer title for her contributions to research in bone regeneration and biofilm inhibition in dental implants.
This award highlights her dedication to innovative research. On this occasion, Dyah presented her study titled "A Dual Function Strategy for Bone Regeneration and Biofilm Inhibition in Dental Implants", conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. drg. Widowati Siswomihardjo, M.S. "This research is expected not only to contribute to scientific advancements but also to create more affordable and effective solutions for future dental practices," Dyah stated during an interview session.
The event also served as a tribute to the late Prof. Niken Widyanti, a figure who nurtured young scientists in Indonesia and encouraged them to contribute to their homeland. The Niken Memorial Scholarship Award provides a platform for researchers from various universities, including Tokushima University, Hang Tuah University, Unisula University, Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, and others, to share their research findings and build academic networks.
Additionally, the event featured various presentations from other award recipients. The discussions strengthened collaborative efforts, with a focus on innovative technologies and modern methodologies.
Through the Niken Memorial Scholarship Award, FKG UGM reaffirms its commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in ensuring inclusive and quality education (Goal 4), promoting affordable and innovative energy development (Goal 7), and fostering global partnerships for sustainability (Goal 17).
